About Michel Schbot Photography

“Hopefully, my photographs will remind others
of what lives beyond our near-sightedness”

- Alan Babbitt.

As a young child, I was attracted to art and photography because it could extend my vision and allow me to see the world in its magical beauty, in a way no other people could. Photography taught me how well you see the beauty in details and express yourself in a different way. For me it’s more about that elusive moment that tells you little stories- or suggests an essence, a mood, a message, a sense of humor or a mystery… There is no limit or boundary in it. I just express my mind, emotion and feeling without saying a word, and the whole world will interpret the message. As we say, “a picture is worth a thousand words”.

Most of my work is spontaneous or carefully crafted, it depends on what kind of assignment I’m handling. If it’s outdoors or in a studio, I put myself in an interesting place and I let the light and my eye lead me to the subject. Then the magic begins.

I have been taking photographs since the beginning of my childhood. I remember when my mother had her medium format camera and took family pictures with it. My curiosity started then, and wanted to discover why I see the subject up side down in the viewfinder. Shortly after that I get my first camera and never let it out of my sight, it grew on me. When I got older, I went to college to study art and photography, and my hobby became my profession. During those years I covered various aspect of life - from weddings to commercial to industrial to portraits, to international assignment to celebrities to the White House to the Capital Hill to people memorable event… I have done it all. I developed a distinctive style of my own. I take pride and joy of what I do. And I consider myself a very lucky man because this was my dream and it became a reality.
